Winter Weather Hacks

Cold weather got you down? We want you to have a safe, happy, and healthy winter season. Here are some tips to help.

For you.

Dryer sheets can help remove static and frizz from your hair. Gently smooth a sheet over hair from crown to tip.

If you need a little extra warmth inside your footwear, cut wool batting or old sweaters to the shape of the insole and slip them inside before you put your feet in.

For your clothes.

If you have tall boots that flop over in your closet, cut pool noodles to the right height and slip them inside the boot leg. That will help prevent them from collapsing and losing their shape, or getting creased over time.

If your boots or shoes get wet, microfiber towels can dry them without too much rubbing (which could ruin the texture of your footwear).

a quick start for your fireplace, stuff dryer lint into an empty toilet paper roll, place inside your stacked wood, and carefully light with a match or lighter.

For your home.

If you've been cooking, save a little on the heating bill for your house by leaving the oven open as it cools. This allows the heat to escape into the room.

Close the doors of unused rooms that have no plumbing to contain the heat where you need it most.

Stop snow from sticking to your shovel by spraying it with silicone or cooking spray. And if the snow is light, use a broom instead of the shovel.

For your car.

A few drops of hand sanitizer on your key may help release a frozen door lock.

Chapstick or Vaseline around the weather-stripping of your car doors can help prevent them from sticking in cold weather.

Keep your feet (and room) a little warmer with area rugs on your hardwood floors.

There are a lot more ideas on the internet. It’s important to note that I haven't tried all the ideas in this email, but the area rugs are something we can help you get!
