How to sound like you are from Boise? Capell Flooring and Interiors

Hi, Matt Capell here with Capell Flooring and Interiors. We thought this might be just a fun video. I actually was born and raised in the Treasure Valley. I was born in Boise downtown and grew up in Meridian for most of my life. But that being said, I noticed when people move here, sometimes they ask me how to pronounce things or how to sound like a local because they're worried.

Just for the record, I love you guys. I love that you move here. It's a great place to live. But we just thought this would be kind of cute and fun to do. If you want to blend in and sound like a local in the area, the first one that's a dead giveaway is how you pronounce the capital. A lot of people say Boise, especially in the national media and things. If you just say boy and then see, you'll sound like a local. That's how everybody that's from here says it.

The other one that's kind of funny is this town that's just south of Meridian. It's pronounced Q-NA, Kuna. If you hear somebody say Kuna, they're not from here. Just make sure you say Kuna and you'll sound like you're local, okay? The other thing that's kind of funny that you hear this on GPS is, a big road that goes through town is Ustick and you hear it more on GPSs and things, but they'll say like Austick and other funny things. We thought it'd be funny to say, so it's just Ustick.

Now in others ... lots of other little minutia and things like that. But what other ... if you can comment below, what other things do you have questions on how it's pronounced and things like that so you can blend in and look like you've lived here for a long time? In case you're worried about that. Like I said, I'm not worried about it personally, but I just thought it was funny. Whenever somebody says Boise, you know they're not from here.

And one other thing too is if you just remember there's no Z in Boise, that's another little thing. Oh, here's the last one. The name of our business is this. One thing we tell people, it just sounds like maple with a C. Although it's not spelled like that, if you said maple with a C, Capell, Capell Flooring, you'll always say it right. Anyway, we love and appreciate you. We're glad that you're moving here. We'd love to help you with your next remodel. Please give us a call. If you have any other questions on pronunciations, I might make another video. It might be fun. Comment below and I'll get to it. Thanks so much and have a wonderful day.
