Why you may or may not want to choose carpeting for your home

Searching for new flooring among all the available options can be daunting. After all, you want to be sure you make the right choice for your preferences and decor within your budget.

Common types of floor coverings are carpet, hardwood, and tile, and each option has advantages and disadvantages. For now, let’s focus on carpeting.

Advantages

Cost-effective: When compared to other available options, carpeting can be a cost-effective choice. Good quality carpet can be over 50% less expensive than hardwood flooring.

Aesthetics: The variety of colors and designs allow you to match the décor in your home more easily.

Insulation: Carpeting is insulation and a sound absorber that can be boosted by the installation of a thick under pad or by choosing a carpet with denser fiber styles.

Disadvantages

Maintenance: Carpets require a high level of maintenance to keep them looking clean and fresh. You need to vacuum regularly, and it's recommended to have them deep cleaned at least once every year.

Damage and Stains: Over other available flooring options, carpet is more susceptible to damage and stains. In extreme moisture conditions, they are also prone to mildew, which can be harmful to people.
