Necessary Requirements and Planning for Your Vacation

Are you planning to travel out of the country on your next vacation? Preparing for more than where to stay and how to get there can save a lot of time and hassles.

Create a Master List.

Beginning with the Essentials. Note required vaccinations needed before
travel begins and schedule to get them done. List the necessities like passports, other essential documents, cash, cards, and traveler’s checks.

Nourishment and Medication are next. Write down the specific vitamins, medications, contact lenses, and glasses you’ll need. Add quick energy items like healthy snacks, protein supplements, granola bars, dried fruit, and glucose tablets.

List the First Aid requirements like anti-diarrheal and gas relief tablets, mild laxative, motion sickness medicine, allergy relief, bandages, mild pain reliever, and a thermometer.

Create a Suitcase list with clothes for the days, events and weather patterns you may encounter at your destination.

Capture the Technology needs like your camera, laptop, video camera, cell and include all batteries, chargers, headphones, cords and connectors. Be sure to check the required electrical connectors needed for your destination country because they may not be the same as North America.

Add Beauty and Hygiene items from antibacterial and cleansing wipes, creams, lotions, brushes, hair dryer, eyeglass and contact cleaners, soaps and shampoos, personal hygiene, razors, toothbrush, toothpaste, insect repellents, lip balm and sun protection, even a travel-sized detergent and stain remover.

Document Everything!

Capture digital photographs and lists, then print a copy to keep with youand store a copy on the cloud.
The following are suggested:
  • Photocopy of your passport. Be sure all numbers are clearly legible.
  • Photocopy of any other essential documents. Again, ensure legibility.
  • Photograph all luggage contents in case they get lost.
  • Create a master document that includes the items below. Consider leaving a copy of this with a key person at home.
    • Flight and seat numbers
    • Hotel name, address, room number, and contact numbers
    • Map and directions from the point of arrival to the hotel
    • Itinerary with time differences
    • Technology list with serial numbers of the items you’re taking
    • Reservations and addresses
    • Also, do not forget to add the address and contact information for the Embassy or Consulate office in the country where you will be staying.

The better prepared you are for your trip and the unexpected before leaving, the better you will enjoy your time away.
